Very disappointing consult through Community Legal Aid. I was trying to submit a small claim and one of the clerks mentioned they don't give out legal advice however you could connect with the community through them while they would send me recommendations. I was texted that this office was interested in helping out because you qualify for 20 minute consult for small claims
Knowing Los Angeles and what lawyers looking for, I asked the front desk if they are able to give me the 20 minute consult so no one can waste time because I'm on a limitation after covid so I need to submit it that particular day and I still had to make an appointment with the courthouse, however, they had me wait the whole day, no response .. the next day I had to wait till I called then they returned my call referring me to another number because someone might be interested in my case, that's all after I had to say the entire story that does not interest them, I still mentioned that I All I want was my consult. They gave me another number, the same thing happened, I called .. spent another 30 minutes talking about the details, sending the office pictures as requested, then the office sends me an email that they don't offer consults, and they would not be taking that case. I pretty much wasted two days.
I tried calling the courthouse to just submit it on my own to find out they didn't have any appointments, so I had to wait till Friday. luckily I got an appointment, otherwise by January I would miss the statue of limitation.
I did not get any consultation, so I wouldn't recommend this office because all it takes is to direct someone how to put together the paperwork and make sure it's not missing required documents for the small claim.
if you're going to waste people's time and have your number to advertise your services while at the legal aid community to get referrals but not ready to give the consultation which was the original purpose, then you should not be wasting people's time.
