I'm incredibly disappointed with the service I received from Claudia, a tax preparer at Unity Tax Services. Let's just say I won't be returning after using them for a few years.

Here's why:

No Questions Asked? No Deductions Offered? The first red flag was Claudia diving right into my taxes without asking any questions about my income, situation, or potential deductions. She didn't even offer any suggestions to maximize my return!

First-Time Homebuyer Confusion: I specifically mentioned being a first-time homebuyer and inquired about a specific deduction. Shockingly, Claudia seemed unsure and had to consult two colleagues to confirm (which, by the way, is absolutely a deduction I qualified for!).

Missing Deduction & Memory Lapse: On top of that, I clearly remember mentioning school expenses and the $300 deduction, but it was mysteriously missing from my return. When I called to clarify, Claudia adamantly denied I ever mentioned it.

Second Time's Not the Charm: I had to return to the office to amend the return and include the missing deductions. Frustratingly, even after the amendments, I'm now getting a letter from the IRS claiming I owe money! I paid the exact amount Claudia told me to before the deadline, so this is incredibly concerning.

Overall, Claudia's lack of knowledge, carelessness, and conflicting information have caused me a major headache with the IRS. If you're looking for a tax preparer who asks questions, explores deductions, and gets things right the first time, I recommend looking elsewhere.

Please do NOT get "help" from Mariana. From the minute my family an I sat in her cubical, the lady couldn't even say a friendly hello. Very poor customer service, not once did she smile, I felt like I was dealing with someone from the DMV (very miserable lady). She didn't explain anything to us, the only questions I was asked were "Did you bring your proof of health insurance?" Which I didn't because my company does not send one. To which she said "I'll have to put "no" and if the IRS contacts you, you just have to send them proof that you did have insurance (she could've easily put yes and I could just avoid that with IRS) and her other question was "did any of you receive unemployment....

And that was all...
I felt so uncomfortable being right infront of this "straight face" .lady ..watching me from the corner of her eye ... eww

Never again!!!
