I’m a teenager, I go in the teen room with an adult present and enjoy my time there. Very safe and comfortable space and community and Alex the Librarian is the best. I love Alex and Alex is a very supportive responsible and caring respectful adult. I wouldn’t choose to be any other library.

It's a wonderful library unless you have a service dog. Unfortunately a particular arrogant janitor will rudely bombard you as soon as you sit down, with his narrow minded opinion on why your dog should not be allowed in the building. Even after being presented with evidence his rant continued and became even more aggressive.
This took place less than 2 feet from Security, which she simply ignored Security is almost worse in some ways. She has absolutely no knowledge of any ADA laws and frankly does not care to learn.
Once upstairs the staff is very nice and respectful it's just a few that make for a very unpleasant experience.

Only open 9:30 AM to 1PM this makes it impossible to visit at all. Any normal person who works 8 to 5PM will never get a chance to visit. What's the point of a public library if it's never open to the public? 🙁 I'm Sad.

I understand New London is in the midst of gentrification and pushing out the “unsightly” human beings who have no housing due to this state’s disgusting housing policies but its completely asinine how security walks around like prison guards. I have lived in New London 25 years and the library was ALWAYS welcoming to EVERY WALK OF LIFE. The past few months every time I come, my biggest discomfort is not the homeless in here clearly finding a respite, its the security walking around jangling keys, looking over peoples shoulder and “doing rounds”. Today I was taking some notes on the table and the security guard shoved the chair in next to me *with her foot* and shook the whole table. When I looked up startled she rolled her eyes and kept walking.
Its very obvious that compassion for peoples circumstances are nonexistent to the point they just assume everyone in there in the early afternoon hanging out MUST be homeless (and therefore they are absolved of upholding basic human decency). I mean the sheer disdain and indifference on her face when I looked up shocked that she would do something so demeaning and callous was unnerving.
Its a library ffs, it shouldnt feel like walking into the county jail.

Quiet, clean, VERY HELPFUL staff. I love our historic local library. They have improved the speed of their public computers.
They offer DVDs and new release novels. Don't see what you want to read? Ask and they'll happily order it for you. Turn off your TV and read a book!

Love coming here, staff is always helpful and polite. They have a huge collection of books and movies, and if the book you're looking for isn't there they are quick to order it for you and it doesn't take long for it to come in, very prompt. One random thing though that barely even matters, I was looking through the pictures you have posted and I've never seen that staircase you have posted. Lol no biggie, just curious about if its there and I've never seen it, or if its a misprint. Again, just wondering. All in all this is a good library, and thats not even mentioning all the events they have there for kids, adults, and young adults.

I have had the best experience with PLNL. The circulation desk staff is wonderful, the children’s library has wonderful programs from toddler to teen and they are free. This is a judgement free zone and I have always loved going there even as a child and now I’m a senior citizen! The teen volunteer program is wonderful for high school children who need community service hours. Volunteer to your heart’s content but the staff will always advise the volunteers that “homework comes first”. My grandson volunteers there and the experience is good for him. Multi cultural and open minded librarians who are kind if you ask questions. I’d go there every day if I could. I give the PLNL 10 stars! So many wonderful ways to learn about the city, the community and the world. And it’s free!!
