This recommendation is for Nick Gelfand and NRG Realty staff. Nick listed our home in Longmeadow for sale. We had moved most of our furniture out and were living out of state. Nick and his team staged the home beautifully and took care of keeping it looking fresh while we were not living there. Nick personally stopped by frequently to make certain that all systems were operating and that the yard looked in good shape. He let us know if we needed to do any maintenance and met contractors to make certain that all was well. Our home was unique. Over 300 years old and Nick searched out appropriate vehicles for marketing for antique homes and the eventual buyer is an antique home lover like us who will carry on the legacy of this house. I’ve worked with Nick Gelfand, owner of NRG Real Estate, to buy 2 homes and sell 2 homes. Nick has a strong understanding of the market, is extremely knowledgeable about properties in a way you might hear from your inspector and he is always quick to answer all of the many questions I’ve had. Nick was a pleasure to work with each time and I was lucky to have him to advise me and by my side along the way. Both offers I made got accepted despite multiple other offers.

Both my sales got well above asking. The first sale got a great cash offer and the 2nd sale we had several offers to choose from. These were both during normal markets and before every house was getting tons of offers and far above asking. It wasn’t the real estate market, it was the way Nick marketed the real estate. You can’t say that about every agent. From great professional pictures and a drone to creativity and strategy Nick’s work was amazing. Over time I’ve also made a really good friend. Nick, he has become a friend because of the type of person he is. He always does the right thing and selflessly guides your decisions based on what is best for you. I Used Nick from NRG to buy a house in the East Longmeadow area. I would give him two-star rating, but I just couldn't bring myself to. While Nick is a great guy, knowledgeable about house equipment, potential repairs, and good at estimating costs he was the worst realtor I have ever worked with the second we had an offer accepted. I should have known when he did not do a single thing to help us find a property but just told us if we should or should not look at a property based on his opinions of areas/size of house/and what seemed to be if had a low buyer agent commission. or when he compared himself to the Michel Jordan of the real state world.

after our offer was accepted, he ONLY put himself into thought. All I heard was "My reputation", "think about how that makes me look" and more things like that. I even had to have a good friend of mine, with more experience in the career working in Boston and Cape Cod, to call him up to tell him what I wanted/needed to do to be able to qualify for a loan to close on the house since he thought would be awkward and make him look bad to the sellers' agents. His ego was bigger than anything I have ever witnessed, was shocking looking back on it.

He wanted me to do crazy things like take a loan against his commission, kept talking about how i needed to switch lenders to a local institution so i could afford the house instead of working for me to be able to afford the house. He kept saying How I needed a 10 yr. ARM with his lender and otherwise the things I needed to do would hurt his reputation and he wouldn't do that to himself. when my lender had a lower 30 yr rate than the one he wanted, he was just trying to make as much money as quick as possible.

My friend ended up checking up on him multiple times after he heard the things he was trying to push over on me and not working for my best interest.

I feel like nick wanted to get the most money from me doing the littlest work. he kept urging me to get more money from family or do this or that which would cost me more money in long run.
