I’m writing to review a North well home health aide employed by my family for my over 90 elderly parent. The hostility of this person towards family members is unethical and certainly intolerable. One year after an incident that would be considered a prelude to a violent assault of me personally by this woman ( 25 yeas younger) and her attempted quit that would leave me solo with 2 disabled and a house infested with bed bugs. The aide was warned by a supervisor who now claims she was off that day. A year has passed with neither an apology nor restoration of good faith. Sadly. I am reminded of a familiar pattern with this person

The incident leading to the break down I recall as very stressful yet in need of immediate attention. The health aide became overly agitated due to an extension of her shift. North well health aids likely brought bed bugs into the household was noted by the extermination crew-early infestation was noted by the exterminator to be the room solely occupied by this aide. My mothers mattress was infested and I noticed welts. Chaos for several days was unavoidable. Thousands in extermination and disposal of nearly everything was inevitable..

I have about an hour to visit my mother this week and it happens to fall
on a scheduled shift day of this individual. I have asked that my
privacy be respected and generally use the time praying with my Mom
and sharing family photos in an ideally safe environment. My mothers home is not safe as long as this aide is in it

I would like to pack personal family mementos and photographs and say good bye to my mother. It is me or her. We cannot communicate..I do not feel safe in the household and this North well employee has a history of aggression and provocation. There is obvious racial tension.,This aide is often defensive and self serving without any accountability for actions that I am aware of.

Her treatment of welcome visitors substandard at best - the house is dirty and unkempt since the firing of a reliable housekeeper - also instigate by this individual..the hostility and confusion in the household is alarming. Family guest rooms have been stripped bare as the aide occupies the better room personally and has full run of the household. My mother is forced into isolation from visits from nearby family. The health aide threatens to quit regularly. The weekly grocery bill is over 300 dollars I hear and I would suspect that many items leave the house. The needs of this single elderly is minimal. Grandchildren must ask permission for holiday visits and holidays are off limits now for 2 daughters that the aide “does not like” and reports she would “ rather not” or threatens to quit that very day , leaving my mother unattended and one of us required to fill the shift. It would not be the first time either- she did this twice to me and I hardly know her.

Telephone calls are blocked now. Bed bugs were transported by this aide and caused thousands of dollars in damage. Her response? I quit. I will likely never see my parent again due to the animosity, threats and concern for my personal safety. My mothers home is hostile. . The aide represents herself to be al nurse and is not credentialed bro my knowledge. Any effort at resolution via North well compliance violates promised confidentiality. The supervisory staff is guarded and suspicious .. Conversely, the weekend aide is a charming woman with a decent vehicle, compassionate and has a positive. outlook.,. Isn’t it up to North well to provide and train their employees?

I'm taking time out to recognize this Nurse taking care of my very sick sister just to say thank You for the excellent care she provided to her. It takes a very special person like her to do this job I know because I been there. I put in over 25 years into Northwell Health and which I love taking care of patients and family I was part of both you have to love what you do and I did every year of it . So this special Nurse I want to thank is Katesia Jones . LIJ 5floor. You have to know I miss all my patients and families.
