I just had a complimentary 20 minute phone conversation with Nicholas Caplin and in that short time I could tell he knows his HOA law! Even though I believe the HOA was harassing me over some minor improvements and did not follow the cc&r's, Mr Caplin went over the law and my options and convinced me to bite my tongue with the HOA and just follow their guidelines. I had a dispute with my HOA that caused my family and other families in our neighborhood to have a drastic change in living conditions for the worse. Our HOA made changes to our neighborhood that violated the CC&Rs and after the HOA refused to cooperate and retained an attorney to represent themselves, I interviewed several HOA lawyers to represent us and our neighbors to protect our rights. Divya was the most impressive by far, so I retained her firm so she could represent us. From the beginning, Divya proved to be very knowledgeable, resourceful and effective.She was very helpful in walking us through the process while also keeping costs down as much as possible. She wrote an outstanding demand letter and mediation brief and later represented us at mediation during the ADR process. Her firm fought our HOA in the legal process and won. This company had a “strategy session”
With me and charged $500. The attorney (Nicholas) basically listened to me on the phone and stated I had a very good case.
He then said he would schedule a follow up appointment and I never heard from him. Emailed his office multiple times and no one responded. I think I just got scammed out of $500 just like that.
