This office was engaged for estate planning for my elderly father-in-law. They took an inordinate amount of time and a surprisingly high cost for what was essentially a template trust document. When my father-in-law died, they informed us of a list of things that had to be done, including going through probate...which they had previously told us the trust would avoid. They wanted $5K up front, and $1K to change a title on the house. We didn't feel comfortable with the advice and another firm advised us that the deadlines they had given were incorrect, and there was no need for probate as most assets were IRAs. They took over and helped us through the rest of the process. On advising them we had changed firms, they refused to refund a $1K deposit even though they had done no work on changing the house title. Overall, they didn't do what they said they would, provided bad guidance, and were difficult to keep engaged. The office is a disaster of paper, which tells you everything you need to know.

Paid $100 for the 30 minute consult regarding a real estate issue. Mr. Silva was knowledgeable, but didn’t seem to want to give any advice besides some very generic information. While he did address some of my questions and alleviate some concerns I had, it felt very lacking in legal advice. I had better luck talking to friends who are realtors than a real estate attorney.

I spent a total of 17 minutes in his office before he basically stopped answering questions and sort of indicated we were done talking.

Thank you for your time, but I’m afraid I wouldn’t recommend his services to friends/family in the area.

Everything above this edit to my post is the original post. Below is my reply to the owner's (rather sarcastic) reply. I originally awarded 2 stars, but upon seeing the online behavior of the firm, I changed my rating to 1 star.

The $100 is the advertised fee that I spoke to the front office about before the consult. I was not charged a discounted rate as the owner claims. I have the $100 charge on my card I used to pay for the appointment.

The owner is correct, it was "up to half an hour." I did in fact only use part of the time, but as I stated in the original review, Mr. Silva started dismissing my concerns and questions and mostly stopped answering questions.

The topic of the consult was to ask questions about liens on a ~$200k - $250k property and how I could best protect myself. I did end up taking his advice and requesting an addendum to the purchase agreement.

One final comment: Do you really want to trust a firm that dismisses your honest review with such a sarcastic reply? How would they represent you should your legal issue require serious work and communications?

Again, if I were looking for legal representation, I would look elsewhere.

Takes your money and that's the only time you see him until Court. No going into the office to talk for 2 minutes. You have to talk to his staff and they don't want to talk to you. $600 to fill out 2 forms that are necessary for Court/Judge so why isn't it counted as part of the Divorce package that I paid for originally. He doesn't want to talk about it to his clients or anything else for that matter. He got a nice amount of temporary support but he took half of it for himself in "fees"! Yeah a real nice guy - NOT - DO NOT let his warm personality fool you. He dropped me after he got all the money I had and I am still married. The thing is this Divorce has taken over a year and I am broke now. How am I supposed to live now?! He dropped me AFTER he got half of MY Temporary Support. He told me that should last me a year and to be careful with it and put a certain amount in my checking from savings accounts every month so I wouldn't overspend it. No that was because my bill was an average of $2000 EVERY SINGLE MONTH. $35 for every letter he sent me and that was a lot of letters that he sent. He's very good at sending letters!!! He knew how emotional I was and it wasn't your average emotional issue it be was huge! I'm disabled and he didn't help at all with my case! If he wasn't a lawyer I would love to get the best of him and Sue his "&!#@ but I don't think I could win with him and I am still going thru my divorce. I don't know how that could be legal in our country!!! It's not morally legal in my world!!! Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!!! Does that sound familiar!?! That's not how it works here in the world of these types of Lawyers. Don't even go to the consultation because you will like him and you will believe him just beware do not talk to him even once unless you have so much money that it doesn't matter to you if you give it all to him. Give me your money! I need it he doesn't he has mine and I'm sure a lot of other people's hard earned money! I have no money to pay for my bills, no grocery money, gas and cigs are hard to come by and I am oxygen dependent and have had a heart attack and he doesn't care about those things! Well my dog has food and for that I am grateful!!! I'm smart too so if you think it was because I'm not so smart and this could not happen again you better stop and rethink this one!!! I'm giving this office 1 star only because you have to in order to place a review. I don't understand charging a person $75 for 30 minutes just to ask a question or 2. And the response from your receptionist with regards to free consultations, "We do not, and I don't know anyone else in town that does" was unsolicited and rude. As a matter of fact, I have dealt with many lawyers on different circumstances before and NEVER have I had to pay for a consultation. I find it absurd to charge a person just for asking questions and seeking advice.
