Shane was absolutely wonderful to work with; she did our estate planning, including our Wills, a Trust, and appointing a guardian for our child if we are not available to care for him. Shane made this intimidating process as easy as pie for us. She explained everything in a way that we could understand it, she was prompt and professional, and she went out of her way to accommodate us, even coming to our home for the signing process, and, she made it even easier because she is a Notary in addition to being an amazing attorney. I hired Shane Barnard to revise my end-of-life documents, which were originally prepared in 2012 and were out of date. She turned out to be a brilliant choice.
Shane is a consummate professional who is comprehensively knowledgable and up to date about current estate law. She is meticulous, detail-oriented, honest, transparent about her working methods and fees, and a caring, empathetic, trustworthy, and delightful human being.
Shane is dedicated to help you, as her client, understand the ramifications of the often difficult and complex decisions you have to make about your Will, your Advance Health Care Directive, your Trust (if you choose to set one up) and so on.
She is patient and kind. She will walk you through the labyrinth carefully, to make sure you are OK with your choices each step of the way. She will also remove difficulties such as obtaining documents you might need to complete the process.
We went through several iterations of the new documents until we were both satisfied with them. She gave me the benefit of her professional advice when I had questions or uncertainties.
At my request, Shane also coordinated the project with my financial advisers, my fiduciary agent, and close friends who will be involved should I become incapacitated before my death. She even helped me set up a Trust fund and make provisions for the care of my cat, who's likely to survive me.
The final documents she prepared were beautifully presented in a notebook. Shane went through them with me step by step to make sure I understood each one of them before signing them in the presence of a witness and a Notary. She also sent them to me in digital form.
As a single woman without a family, I highly recommend Shane Barnard to shepherd you through the process of estate planning. She will make sure that it's done correctly and legally, while taking your personal wishes fully into account. She'll make what is inevitably a stressful project as stress-free as possible.
