This organization is corrupt to the core. My sick father was having a retaining wall built to keep the mud from entering his house during last year’s storms, was built without a permit but was built according to their own web site plus thicker rebar Was added. Someone called these Nazis on my father who has since passed and now they have started a campaign of harassment on me! I’ve been trying too get a hold of someone there and finally did only to find out and engineer needs to sign off on blueprints I need to pay for 20,000$.
Even though they have engineer’s there that could look at it and sign off on it. But no I need to pay.
It’s all a scam to increase the property value so they can increase the property tax. Someone comes by once a month to take photos of the property to make sure no work has continued because if so they can write up another compliance violation god forbid you try and fix up your property and not tell them. All there language in the citations are vague and open to interpretation, they say “excavation permit” but really mean there’s a lien on your property. It’s really ridiculous the hoops they will make you jump through.

My driveway faces the alley, people use it as a free dump site and I get blocked in. Every time I call the county to fix it they show up with a couple of days. It's not a perfect system, but at least they're trying.

Should be an option for 0 stars, this place is awful. My Mom was exposed to mold (as was confirmed by a doctor at an ER), and I had been trying for weeks to get someone out here to look at our rental from Code Enforcement. I was told the case was closed as someone had already been here, I told them no, no one had ever come to my residence, located at the back of the property which I explained multiple times when I contacted them. I kept saying "we are in the alley".

I was put into contact with Kern Public Works to someone named Elizabeth King. She proceeded to try and give me a run down on how mold develops, and how it should be treated and taken care of. I tried multiple times to stop her before she went into that because, as I eventually said, maintenance had already been here and tried that, yet still my Mom was very sick. She indicated to me that they couldn't do anything about mold, as it is considered a 'civil' matter, meaning you have to go to court...not sure what the point of having any of these entities involved then is, really. She says they can look at the source of what caused the mold provided I knew: I told her a cooler on my neighbor;s roof up front had been leaking last winter, the water came all the way down to over the bathroom where there is no exhaust fan, and the management company was aware.

She then put me into contact with someone at Code Enforcement named Jason (forgot last name) who said he would send someone to look at the cooler....he never did. I got a phone call early one morning saying he had heard from the management company twice and they said it was fixed, and basically going, "guess my job is done here' so I got on him and explained he never sent someone, which I thought was already horrendous, and then on top of it he is acting as if two phone calls and no follow up from his unit is sufficient? No, you don't get feel accomplished over nothing, and I didn't let him get away with it, believe me.

My advice? RUN as far as you can, they won't help you---you're better off on your own.

Code Compliance was sent out to our vacant lot for weeds, imagine that with record rainfall this year. We did everything necessary to be released, even sold the lot and we are still getting bills and threats to be sent to collections because they obviously have no one that knows how to read documents and file them correctly! Now we can't even get one person in the department to even acknowledge us via email or a personal phone call after several attempts by us to have them rectify THEIR mistake. I couldn't publish without giving a star, but I would never give a star for this government department.

The neighbors toilet dumps on the ground under her manufactured home. Breeding ground for disease, bugs, and stench. When it rains the smell is so bad I can smell it from inside my house. Lopez did nothing. I guess he didnt feel like inspecting poopy soil that day.

Im guessing my family is about to receive another assault on our 4th ammendment right regarding unreasonable searches resulting in more illegal siesures due to personally witnessing whom I believe to be a KC Code Compliance Employee driving what appeared to be a county vehiccle driving back and forth on the road adjacent our properties, then after spotting the fellow driving around on the property accessible only by entering onto and a dirt road over and across private property. When I tried to get a closer look at the truck, it had exited the property and parked on the public road. When I spotted it there I tried to get a closer look but the driver sped off. Just posting this to validate a potential future lawsuit against the county for trespass, illegal search, and a slew of other complaints should my assumption be substantiated be a formal code compliance investigation be levied.

Lillian Cortez needs to be fired & officer's she has with her backing up her illegal purjury code Violations targeting low-income victims of fraud , wouldn't be surprised if she assisting organized groups such as the Raids that took place @ 700 block of Irene st & N Baker St Bakersfield CA 93305 . She admires herself too much committing such actions up into the point witnessed her talking with a group of kids that have vandalized my mother's home before after release from jail false charges reporting commuters from raids taking place on 700 block of Irene Street and N
Baker Street Bakersfield Ca 93305 attempting to ' misuse ' 911 ! As well as documented such actions then sent to manger of department but haven't heard back I wonder why ?. Which includes me having Proof of congressman David ' team ' which also has Andrea Cortez fraud Of my mother's DDS claim taken away from her . At this point entire building needs to be raided for fraudulent work place activity & commuters search with notice first but won't & will resume .

Fix this problem. Overall rating 0.025 of a star and that’s only because someone answered the phone.
