Yes, you read that correctly. I went through a year of hell when my ex husband decided to take me to court for custody 3 full years after our divorce. Without getting into ALL the details I’ll say this, it was an unfounded attempt at a power play on his part. Anyway, I hired Johnson Law Group, Anne Hinds to be specific. Well, of course she promised me the moon and stars, she really “cared” about my situation and was there to help. It all sounded great! I had a team, I had back up…. Yeah… that was what I was led to believe. However, several months into this, I’ve been paying all my bills on time, out of my actual bank account, not a loan or a payment plan, but cold hard cash, they all of a sudden burn through 10K now they need more, so I give them more money, reminding them “I’m a single mom, I still have to take care of my child” so can they please attempt to conserve the giant lumps of money I’ve been giving them? Well somehow, emails keep getting lost, I’m being asked the SAME QUESTIONS over and over and over again, knowing that each time they email me its costing me money, Ms. Hinds at $400/hr and her paralegal at around $175-$200/hr (I can’t remember exactly)… How many times can I plead “Please check the email chain, I’ve answered this 3 or 4 times”? But nope, they kept asking the same things multiple times. And then, when trial time comes, guess what? Ms. Hinds is in Florida (she’s a snow bird is my guess) and won’t be able to be in CO to represent me in court…. WHAT?!?!
So I get to, essentially, start ALL OVER with another attorney Tim Dudley, and HIS paralegal. So, in order to “get him up to speed” Anne and her paralegal Megan, and Tim and his paralegal are all chatting, so I have to pay 2 senior attorneys and 2 paralegals!! But you know what? My son is the most important person to me so I keep on as best I can. Then, the actual trial date comes up, March of 2024, BOOM!! BIG HUGE SNOWSTORM! So court is…..POSTPONED!! And guess what Johnson Law Group has burned through all the money I have given them, OVER $27,000!!!!… so in order to have an attorney at court with me on the new court date, they tell me they’ll need ANOTHER $10,000…….!!!!
I have no money left at this point, the whole time I was doing this every. single. paycheck went to attorney fees I retained NOTHING, drained my savings account, and ended up not being able to have an attorney in court anyway. Also, the Judge was not even notified that the attorneys from Johnson Law Group would not be present that day, and she seemed pretty surprised to see me there ALONE, representing myself… So yeah, Johnson’s Law Group is awful, they’re attorneys don’t care unless you can pay them to.

But by the way that day, alone, in court…

Do yourself a favor, DO NOT hire Johnson Law Group… all law firms may be the same but I can only refer to my experience with this one.

Do not use this layers, they have just taken my money and nothing has been resolved. I have already paid them 20,000 dollar to help resolving disagreements between myself and the other party. This is the main reason I hire her, after 6 months of giving her my case, I was told by one of the lawyers that is suppostly working in my case, Shana Velez to be exact, that I had to "speak to the other party to get to an agreement"? . I am still shocked by this since I have already spent thousands of dollar suopostly to resolve the disagreement with the other party but nothing has been done. Moreover, I had a hearing on the 4th of December, they extended it to February 2025 because according to them I have to meet with the other party to come to an agreement before the court and are now sending us to mediation, why didn't they explained from the beflgininh this was going to be the case? I could had gone straight to mediation instead of spending money that I am having to borrow, to pay for their exesive and extremely expensive fees, especially when they provide such a poor service. In addition to this, I was never told that the whole buffet of Lawyers where going to take a piece of cake of the money I put in their trust account. They email, message and phone eachother eachother and charge for each of the persons that were involved in the conversations. It's so depressing seen the statement of the bills they are sending me, I work so hard assabling and packing earning $18.00 per hour and the lawyer charged me $680.00 dollar for 50 minutes on a meeting where I was just answering questions. They have no compassion for people, it's disgusting how these lawyers want to leave you backrupt and cannot careless. They do not even do their jobs, or explain to their clients about the process, do not provide updates, nor are clear/honest about their fees. I have not received a single call from Shana to explain the possibility of winning the case, or to tell me how the case of going but for every finger or thong they move, they charge minnimun of 190 dollars. She had never giving me advise or invite me to the meeting they have to discuss my case, so I have no updates on the progress.
They asked me to sign a contract on a link that I have no access now and when I requested a copy of my the contract and complained over the phone, they stop contact, I have asked for a call back and no one has returned my calls for the last two weeks. For the money I have already paid I should have at least seen some progress, but there in non, the court has been moved twice, and the more they do it the more it cost me. I want clear explanation as to what has been done that is worth over 20, 000 dollar and a copy of my contract without additional charges as this should be included in the initial fee and or is my right to have a copy of this contract, I want to know the exact fees that will be charged going forward, full disclosure of how much more is going to cost me so I can make a decision on whether I want or can continue using their services. Lastly I also want reimbursement of fees I believe I have been overcharged for.

Please please please don’t use this company. It’s been over a year now and I still feel the need to write reviews they will charge you 10,000 of thousands $ and never represent you because they hope to charge you so much you withdraw counsel so they never have to represent you but get paid for inaccurate and mediocre work. They will bankrupt you and not care!! I can’t warm people enough to steer clear of this company. If you’re local to the springs go with Gasper law. Their fees, retainer, monthly payment plans are financial stable. Johnson law group with drain you financial and leave you with nothing and no representation!! After the 3rd bill each over 5,000 I obtain new counsel and was not only in court but at not even a fraction of the cost I had paid Johnson with no progress . Zero stars!!

About them “caring about feedback and if I wished to discuss”. Clearly again showing their lack of attention to detail… I already explained I had reached out to billing more then once to discuss. They do not care, they got their money and that is all they wanted. What a joke. Run y’all… just RUN.

If I could give -0 stars, I would. It all started great. They have an amazing sales team , pretty impressive actually, but now let's get into the meat and potatoes. From the get-go, the paralegal Rose was CLUELESS. Not only did she put in a legal document information that was NOT true, that she had made up ( we had provided her a three page list of every encounter that was needed to assist with our case. Dates, times, photos, videos, and detailed descriptions and yet she still couldn't get it right. The amount of back-and-forth of us having to basically do her job was exhausting. And we were having to pay for all the absolute incompetent errors. Then let's talk about the lawyer . We are in Colorado Springs. He's based out of Denver. We let them know our concerns with that because we knew there would be some court dates potentially coming out of this that was not gonna be cheap due to travel time if that was the case, they assured us, it would not be a problem, but of course it was, they insisted that he needed to be present when in fact, he did not. We paid a ridiculous amount of money for him to sit there, and really not say a word. It also seems that the court system and Denver versus Colorado Springs are very different (which we questioned numerous times including at sales/intake. Therefore, alot of his game planning was incorrect and even though my spouse and I tried to explain our concerns of why things were not going to work that way he continued to go with the process which was again just a waste of time and money, so they would get paid. They make it sound really good on the front end pay the five grand retainer and if there's anything left you'll be reimbursed.... of course, there's gonna be nothing left when it all goes to fixing errors that should
Never have been happening had they been competent in their jobs.
After they went through my retainer, I had a $17 balance left over which they threaten to take to collections. I then requested a review of the statements and my concerns with how they utilize their time for my case, and was given a canned response, and then requested a second review, and they stand by their decisions. I see now and looking at these reviews that there's been other people that I've gone through similar situation, and I just need people to be fully aware of what they're getting them selves into if they choose to go with this law firm. The sales peeps are stellar, but we're not paying for sales peeps we're paying for legal assistance. Absolute joke do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

My son has been kidnapped I paid Retainer and my first bill was 6,000$! My attorney got switched in the process and I was charged always for attorneys talking to each other about my case etc. I took out a 10,000$ loan they used that up so fast as well as another couple grand. I went into debt and lost my house and car to pay it all it became too much and still after I got another 8,000$ bill. I got charged for things I wasn’t even aware of was going to be a part of the process. Of
Course a mom will do anything for her child. Finally I gave up trying to pay all this I had to file for bankruptcy and even after I have a get sent a bill every couple weeks. Predatory is all I can say.

I have been in and out of the family courts in Colorado Springs for 15 years concerning all four of my daughters and their father over post decree issues. I have had 3 previous law firms and lawyers on my case. Johnson Law Group has been the best by far!! Taylor Brice is absolutely amazing and very professional. He is empathetic and truly listens to your concerns. He offers professional advice and keeps it real with no BS or fake promises. I greatly appreciate his assertiveness and thoroughness in reviewing and preparing for my hearing!!! I would also like to thank Johanna Hendley for stepping in to litigate at my hearing. She too is an amazing attorney that keeps it real. She has experience with domestic violence and trauma cases and is a huge support to victims. Both attorneys fought for my 15yr old daughter who was self-harming due to stresses in the current parenting plan. My daughter was a suicide risk and these 2 WONDERFUL attorneys pushed and were successful at granting time for her to meet with the judge and have a voice in her own life! When I first contacted the Johnson Law Group, I was not sure that I wanted to proceed with filing for divorce but sought a consultation so that I’d be educated in the event that I pursued it. One of the partners provided the consult and discussed with me my options and the process even though I had not yet committed to using his firm for representation. Not being able to come to terms with my now ex-husband, I proceeded with paying the retainer fee on a Friday morning. By that same Friday evening the firm had already filed the paperwork. Also important to note, is that they firm proved to be worth every fairly billed penny that I spent with them. The expediency, care, and empathy shown to me during this life changing and very draining process was much appreciated. It wasn’t just one person trying to fit me in – it was an entire team keeping the process moving forward even with lack of cooperation of the other party. I am grateful for the professionalism, communication and experienced counsel that I was provided. I fully intend to consider the Johnson Law Group for other family law matters in the future.
