If I could I would give Divorce Coach, Liesel Darby, 10 stars! She is a credit to her profession. She provided/provides me emotional support, guidance, and clarity throughout the stages of the divorce process. I would be so lost without her. I first started working with Liesel when I was going through my Divorce mediation around the end of 2023, I was representing myself and had chosen not to get a lawyer to represent me, due to myriad reasons. Of course, I needed to be well prepared and also confident to represent myself. At that time, as you may understand, I was not feeling very confident, nor was I feeling emotionally stable as I was going through a divorce of my 21 year marriage, which I had assumed would last forever!
To this day, I clearly remember how Liesel encouraged and empowered me to take charge and still be myself. She coached me to play on my strengths ( I’m a yoga teacher, and she suggested how I take some of those tools that I teach, from the mat into the mediation room, which I was able to do very successfully). She coached me on setting boundaries and not feeling responsible for everyone’s feelings (which was something that did not come naturally, as I had always been the caregiver and had identified with it and cherished that role). She advised me to dress up in a way that I felt confident, she believed in me when I did not believe in myself!

Liesel offered to be available to me if I needed to call her during the mediation session, which she was. She went completely above and beyond!

So as I went through my divorce I realized that it’s an industry full of predatory professionals who prey on families stuck in contested divorce proceedings. These families can face combined legal bills that can exceed $500,000, much of which is spent on the fees for status conferences, inadmissible communications and expensive forensic evaluations. Once a court case begins in Supreme Court, there is no limit to what the divorce industry can take from a customer, with the court’s muscle behind the bills.

I was very lucky to get the right coaching and ethical professionals who wanted the best for the family and we were able to settle our case through mediation in Texas. Doing it amicably helped the family to repair quickly and was the most healthy thing we could have done for the kids. I am grateful for ethical professionals like her that exist in this seedy industry of divorce. I cannot emphasize enough how important it was for me to have Liesel by my side in that devastating but critical and pivotal time of my life. I 100% believe that the strong negotiation while still staying extremely amicable was possible due to Liesel’s thoughtful, and thorough coaching.
