We had our wedding here and we also had a terrible experience. There was a homeless party or whatever going on in the front and it was kind of embarrassing, since we had many Guest. ALSO, when we originally viewed the city hall we were told there was going to be nothing there……well when we got there on our wedding day, there was gay pride flags all over the place, and some other flags all around. We were definitely not happy. We paid a massive amount for insurance, just incase we damaged something, yet there was other people there having meetings, hosting a event.
I do NOT recommend Hartford city hall as a place to get married. Even though the place is sooo pretty, there will be homeless people sleeping on the side steps, a event hosted for the homeless people.

One of Connecticut's most beautiful buildings! I'm a wedding photographer and recently visited with one of my couples for their engagement session. It was a great time!

Note that to visit for a photo session, you need a permit. The security staff run a pretty good show: sessions start and end pretty promptly in order to keep things moving.

Parking is easy on Sundays...there's plenty of on-street spots on the building's block.

Highly recommended!

Photographed an intimate wedding here and absolutely LOVED just getting to run around taking photos all over the place! It's gorgeous and it was perfect for a couple who wants to just enjoy their time being together and taking cool editorial photos. Would love to photograph another wedding there! @stinecreativenyc

Absolutely terrible experience from beginning to end. I had my wedding there and was not told that there would be a homeless event hosted outside of the building so I couldn’t even take pictures outside. You would also think they will let you know if you’re hosting a wedding in August that there is no AC available in the building All contact persons were not responsive throughout the whole entire process. I had to pull teeth in order to get an answer to any question that I needed. I would not recommend Hartford City Hall, as beautiful as the venue is, to anyone if you wanna smooth wedding day or a process to occur.

I can't speak to how smoothly anything runs here but I can say it is absolutely beautiful inside! I photographed an intimate wedding at Hartford City Hall on Saturday and it was amazing, if just a bit echo-y. There are so many great spots for photos and almost no one else there on weekends! It does require a permit for use beforehand, but it's definitely worth it and you can just grab your marriage license at the same time!

It is truly remarkable to witness such a magnificent structure preserved in its original state. As an amateur photographer, I find great joy in capturing the intricate details and architectural precision of this historical gem.
