Since April of 2020 you, Brett Smith, have done nothing to give Katie’s family the peace they deserve. Since you have not only failed to do your job correctly, but also assisted in covering up Katie’s case, I demand that you step down from your position immediately. You are clearly not able to fight for what’s right and should not remain as the district attorney. Please do what is right and resign

District Attorney Brett Smith is as dishonorable as he is unprofessional. His gross mishandling of the Katie Palmer case and immaturity displayed towards her family is incomprehensible. He brings shame to your offices. It’s no wonder your community is fighting for change in leadership. Truly an inside look on how not to treat the people you represent.

Do not rely on Grayson County for your protection. They signed my death warrant and they don't even care. All they care about is maintaining their image.
I am a domestic violence survivor who had the misfortune of working with the district attorney's office against my abuser. I had requested to speak with the prosecutor handling my case multiple times before my abuser was offered a plea agreement and requested to be present at the sentencing to read a statement to the judge. Requests that were said to have been conveyed. However a plea agreement was made and my abuser was released from jail 2.5 miles from where I live with no warning from them. The prosecutor told me that if he knew half of what I was telling him he would not have offered less than 10 years, that he was not made aware of any requests from me and that he did not get the evidence that I submitted when I filed the police report.

I can say fortunately Bill Magers is on his way out of the door. Now it is just time for one more person.. DA Brett Smith! Your time is going to come sir. This community deserves much better than people in charge obstructing justice and making sure every other citizen “follow the laws in place”. I am sorry to anyone who has had a second of time with these people and their horrendous behavior.
As to Cory Foster, his day of redemption will come! I hope he is rotting with his guilt.

If I could give 0 stars I would. If you don’t live here, don’t move here if you’re worried about justice if something ever happens to your family. Brett Smith is crooked. So is Kerye Ashmore. Absolutely should not be overseeing an office as important as this. Incompetent.

The prosecutors are securing convictions at any cost, breaching their duties. Coercive plea bargaining has poisoned Grayson County's judicial system, and those who assert their constitutional rights face certain retribution.
The prosecution has shown extreme bias towards people of color, ethnic backgrounds and low economic status. Being a different race than someone and being poor should not be a crime.
