I used Fence Specialist since my neighbor was already using them to put up a fence that partially bordered my yard. The fence was installed in 2020 and is a cedar dog-eared. I would describe their craftsmanship and service as lacking. My fence has 3 gates and after 3 years, all of of the gates were having issues. I know that wood gates will eventually start to sag, but the reason for my issues were primarily caused by poor design or lazy installation. They only used nails (not screws) to build the gates. They did not install of the hardware (lag bolts) on some of the hinges. They did not pre-drill for the larger lag bolts that they used, which caused some of the boards to split. They built the gates with no cross supports which is guaranteed to have gate sagging in short time. On 1 of the gates, the distance between the posts was too large. Instead of fixing the issue, they just nailed a plank to the inside of the post to make the gap smaller. They installed the latches crooked (not straight). I tried to reach out to them to see if they would be willing help rectify the problem(s). After emailing them for 7 months, they finally responded. Unfortunately, after talking to the sales guy and the owner, they were not willing to fix the gates. I ended up having to fix them myself.

I would not recommend.

-What does designing/building/installing gates without cross supports (see pics) have to do with maintenance?
-What does installing gate hardware without using all of the lag bolts (see pics) have to do with maintenance?
-What does using fence paneling to fill a gap that is too big for the the gate (see pics) have to do with maintenance?
-What does not predrilling holes so that the boards crack when you tighten lag bolts (see pics) have to do with maintenance?

5 Star rating for Nick and his team at The Fence Specialist!! They helped me and two of my neighbors replace the old, rotting wood fence that borders all three of our properties with brand new vinyl. Nick kept in constant contact with all three of us and the installer he sent over was amazing. The installer even helped me load my truck with some stuff I was taking to the dump. I highly reccomend this company for ANY of your fencing needs.

The fence is good but the color doesn't match the existing fence that we had on the other side of the house. Ironically, that fence was installed by the same company a few years ago. The lighter color fence was installed a few years ago. The darker color is what they recently installed.

We are very satisfied with The Fence Specialist company. They gave us a quick and competitive quote. They kept us well informed about the timing of the install, having to work around Utah weather. Our old fence was removed and the new one installed the same day by a very competent crew. Couldn’t be happier!

Contacted Fence Specialist to get a gate and a small fence portion installed at our home. Appointment was set up quickly and got our estimate and prepaid for the job. 4-5 weeks later the contracted builder came and went without any notice. Once I inspected the work, I was highly disappointed. There are nails and screws placed sporadically and half of them are still sticking out the back. The latch is tiny and only on one side of the gate. There is a large gap in the gate and the wood is splintered in several places. This is not the work of a “fence specialist.” I have contacted the business SEVERAL times and the salesman, the manager, nor the owner will get back to me. The best thing about this business is the receptionist who has been the most responsive. I would not recommend this company as they do not care about their customers or the work that is put out by their contractors.

I am a local contractor. Fence Specialists is my go to fence supplier. They always treat me well and help me with materials.
They are knowledgeable and often help me troubleshoot how do repair and design my projects.

The fence turned out great and was done very quickly!

My only complaint is that there were 2 things that were told to me when I was getting my estimate originally, that when they went to install the fence, weren't going to happen. I'm thinking it's because the guy that did the estimate, was a newer employee.

That being said, they ended up getting everything resolved, so overall it was a pretty good experience!

The arbored gate and fence look spectacular! When new projects are on the table for my property, they will the the first and only call I'll make.
