Divorce is difficult to say the least. When I first started the divorce process, I talked to several lawyers. But I wasn’t looking for someone aggressive or unresponsive. When I first met with Steve Doucette to represent me in my divorce he explained to me that, in Massachusetts, under law, marital assets have to be split equitably 50/50. He went on to tell me that if I was looking for an attorney who was going to try to extract more than that from my spouse, he was not the attorney for me. As that was not my intention, I retained Steve to represent my interests.

As one can imagine, the dissolution of a marriage of 50+ years was complicated as it involved the equitable division of many varied assets. Steve was very knowledgeable and thorough in formulating a settlement agreement that was fair and equitable to both parties.

The whole process was further complicated by the Covid-19 environment. There were cancellations, delays and telephone conferences, but through all this Steve remained calm and kept me relatively calm.

I feel very fortunate that I was represented by Doucette and Associates. Steve and his staff are extremely competent in their knowledge of the law, coupled with kindness, professionalism and compassion in their dealings with both parties.
