So, I normally do not write reviews, especially for deeply personal services such as they provide, however my experience with these people was so poor I felt it particularly important to share.

If you are interested in the details I will provide them below, but I want to sum it up first as most of us do not read entire reviews. I hired these people on Monday Dec 16thand fired them 7 days later. There were two reasons: 1) Communication was worse than poor and 2) the assigned lawyer put more effort into arguing with me than he did in preparing the document I instructed him to write. They were given a chance to correct both mistakes and instead gave me a full refund of the retainer without even so much as an apology. I was left completely stunned by their utter lack of commitment, conviction, and even basic knowledge of the law. This man, and this firm should be completely embarrassed by this.

The full story:

I conducted interviews with multiple firms, this company was my second choice. I was clear during my interviews exactly what the situation was, what my expectations were and what my goals were. Every firm I spoke with all said the same thing “absolutely no problem “. I was told on on Wednesday the 11th during the interview with this firm that lawyer a would be a good fit. I paid the retainer on the following Monday and was immediately told that lawyer a was no longer available. I was assigned to lawyer b, who I immediately made an appointment with. This was Monday afternoon.
On Tuesday Mr. B called me 1.25 hours early, where we had (what I thought to be) a productive conversation. He said he would pull what he needed from public records and get back to me with the documents as well as a “strategy” within a couple of days.
At nearly 4:30 on Friday afternoon (after I complained that he had not reached out) Mr. B sent me an email where he lectured me about positioning, then he stated he was not able to pull the document he needed. In my response email I pointed out what he was arguing was not even relevant to the situation, then I asked him why he waited to ask for the document. I also pointed out that not only does the law entitles me to exactly what I’m asking for, but every lawyer I asked including his boss disagrees with his opinion of the situation. I gave Mr. B 4 hours to do what he was hired to do, with a deadline of noon on Monday the 23rd. I also called his boss and leaving a voicemail requesting to speak with her Monday morning.
Monday Dec 23 at 2 pm I called the boss, got voicemail again and told her it might be time to start talking about a refund. I then sent Mr. B, the boss and the paralegal an email saying time was up and I had seen no effort at all. I asked why I shouldn’t fire him.
I never received any response from Mr. B, his paralegal or the boss. I did however get an email from someone to process the refund less then one hour after the email sent to Mr. B. Had the money back before the end of the day on Monday.
Please do not hire these people. Mr. B was the second choice of my second choice, and I’m so thankful he showed me his incompetence before he even reached out to opposing counsel. The utter stupidity and incompetence was overwhelming to say the least. I feel so sorry for anyone who is foolish enough to hire them. The only good thing is they didn’t charge me for the 30 minute phone call or that poorly thought-out email, most likely in hopes that I wouldn’t share my story

I hired Attorney Matt Patton in July of 2023 to help me with my divorce. From the very first moment I met Matt, he was not only professional and knowledgeable, but he made me feel supported, empowered, understood, and at ease. For the high level of representation I received, and for the care he gave to me and my case from the beginning to the end (especially in such an emotionally charged and delicate situation), Matt was worth every penny I spent to hire him as my lawyer. I could not give him a higher recommendation.

Thank you, Matt, from the bottom of my heart, and thank you to your amazing Paralegal, Amanda, for making this process as least painful and as smooth as possible given the circumstances. You guys are truly the best!

After tens of thousands of dollars spent with no solution to our case and several lawyers later; they dumped us without even giving us an explanation or courtesy to let us know how to move forward with our matter. None of the lawyers that we were working with will respond to our email.

After reading several reviews we feel that they treat lots of their clients this way. Whenever we would talk to a lawyer or associate at their firm, it was as if they had no idea what was going on with the case and would ask the same questions repeatedly.

I am writing this in hopes it doesn’t happen to you or another loved one like what happened to my poor mother that has no means to keep fighting. Look elsewhere if you want serious lawyers that care about your case and won’t treat you like trash. Really unprofessional.

Joanna Floribus was absolutely amazing in helping me with my case! She helped me through every step of the long and tedious process of a highly contentious divorce and child custody battle with extreme caring, compassion, and empathy. She made sure that I understood everything with my realistic options, as there were some complications due to a previous criminal case. Not only was she incredibly smart and knowledgeable on the law, but she tenaciously stood up to other well known lawyers with many more years of experience than her and put them in their place. So much so that my ex ended up firing her first lawyer! Ha! I honestly can not say enough good things about Joanna.

I worked with Joanna at the beginning of my divorce process when she was still with a previous firm and when I was informed that she was moving to Burnham, there was absolutely zero hesitation on my end to follow Joanna to Burnham. She is THAT good! There is no one else that I want in my corner more than Joanna! Burnham Law was smart to steal this one away from her previous law firm because they got an absolute gem in Joanna!

Not only is Joanna a top notch lawyer, she is just a downright good person. A wife and mother and just totally down to earth. By the time my divorce was finalized, I felt I had the best lawyer and had also gained a friend in the process! Do not hesitate to use Joanna Floribus as your lawyer, you will NOT be disappointed!

I have worked with Burnham Law since Sept 29, 2020 trying to what felt like being on the defense even though I was the petitioner until they dropped me as a client after spending approximately $100k or more with out embellishing. I had to go through 5 attorney's while I had them retained because their turn over rate is though it's a corporate company which is how they treat their clients. I do not recommend ever using them. They will put you family and whole livelihood in jeopardy. I got more emails about the bill than I did on what was actually happening with the divorce. I've since found several attorneys with integrity and ethics. Burnham law is not one of those companies. I own multi million dollar companies and have dealt with lawyers for the last 20+ yrs whether it was for child custody or for business and I've never experienced the unprofessionalism I had experienced with them. They wanted $20K down for the trial in my divorce in December of last yr for a trial in August the next yr. I asked to go to mediation several times and they never came through. In February after I had paid them a min of $1000 per wk with no results I got mediation myself. They are thieves and no one should ever retain them... I don't say this out of malice... I say this because they are a joke and they do not provide results. Contact me and I can give you info to much better attorneys.

I was fortunate to find this law firm! My lawyer, Riley Scott, is a rock star she has been wonderful handling my divorce. She has been very communicative informing me of the process and what to expect every step of the way. Katherine Adams my paralegal has been wonderful as well. I want to also give a shout out to their developers on creating their own financial software for Sworn Financial Statements. Being a financial geek, the software is very detailed, clear and concise. This team is stellar!
