2. Abuse of power
Should tell you all you need to know about them. Go with a smaller audit firm that actually values your time and willing to work with you when the world turns upside down. Not just uses you to train their new employees.

I lost $1000 tax credit (ODC) from IRS due to mess created by Deloitte while filing my Tax return.
On top of this, there has been other mistakes by Deloitte in tax return filed totaling to $3500 correction in Tax return filed in future year(s).

When I requested Deloitte to file my amended Tax return, they informed me that ODC can not be claimed after end of Tax filing year.
When I requested Deloitte Tax Managing Director, I was told that even though reason given to me at the time of Tax filing was mis-worded, due to Deloitte’s policy, Deloitte can not bear the tax credit loss I incurred.
When I requested Deloitte Ethics department, I was told that there was a delay my side in furnishing relevant information while filing tax return, and hence there wasn’t enough time for paper filing. Of course, the Ethics department was silent about why was it ethical that
1. At the time of Tax return filing, I was mis-informed that I am not eligible for ODC.
2. Deloitte did not inform me upfront that delay in information from my side can result into missing timeline for paper filing.
3. Why didn’t Deloitte consider Filing the return on time (so that ODC could have been claimed) and amend the return later with information which not affecting my balance due / refund
Background:
Deloitte LLP filed my personal Tax return in 2019 and 2020. While filing my Tax return in Oct 2019, Deloitte furnished false information to me by stating that
Excuse 1: I do not qualify of Other Dependent Credit (ODC), and as a result, I did not claim $500 under category of ODC.
While filing my Tax return in 2020, again I could not claim $500 under category of ODC due to pandemic. In June 2021, while filing tax return (by myself), I read the ODC eligibility criteria at IRS website and realized that in 2019 itself, I was eligible for ODC, and Deloitte has provided a false information to me. So in June 2021, when I discussed the same with Deloitte, they changed their excuse for not claiming ODC as:-
Excuse 1: There was a delay from my side.
Excuse 2: My son did not have ODC
