Community First Credit Union is truly a local bank. As a senior in this little town of Clear Lake, we are easy targets. Our local branch manager Sarah, took the time out of a busy day to help me with an account transaction that had been fraudulently set up. I truly appreciate the personal customer service available each and every time you walk into our local branch. It is great to know people by their first name and feel like they are all a part of your family. I am blessed.

I've been a member of Community First Credit Union in Clearlake for several years now. Their staff is always very friendly and ready to help in any way. Sarah, the branch manager is awesome! Whenever I have questions or need help with something, she gets to it asap, and is quick to respond. Oh and they have some of the best rates on the market! Best place to get a loan. Highly recommend!!

I used to love this bank when I first got my account. I believe I’ve been banking here for 8 years… However now you’re lucky if you can access your account, deposit money through the ATM, or transfer money from another bank to your account. I came in today and was told I couldn’t make my car payment using my husbands Wells Fargo card. I simply told the clerk that I have used it every time with no issue… Plus if his name is on the account and bank card I don’t see why it should matter but if it’s their policy I obviously understand but I don’t see a problem with bringing up an inconsistency that I’ve experienced. This woman (Toni Efestione) came over, rudely interrupted, and laid into me with an attitude that I was most certainly not deserving of. My life is trash and the world is hard so I wasn’t giving the clerk a hard time I was simply just bringing the problem to her attention… however Toni basically says, “Well you could’ve just called and made a payment over the phone.” I explained to her I couldn’t do that either because I had tried and they told me I wasn’t able to do that. Idk. Oh and my favorite “Our policy is black and white.” This whole bank is a joke at this point. The friendly faces that used to give top tier customer service obviously doesn’t exist anymore. Idc if the customer before me was the scum of the earth to them… In a customer service based job you take a deep breath and treat the next customer with the kindness they deserve. Their problems and inconsistencies shouldn’t be my problem and their frustrations shouldn’t be taken out on their customers. You would think as an ASSISTANT branch manager you’d be giving excellent customer service to move up a rank, but I guess she must not like her job that much or value her customers enough.

In 2018 I went to see the loan officer in the Lakeport branch for advice. My husband had passed, the medical bills for his care were enormous and my credit score was below 500. She told me step by step how to rebuild my credit. She said it would take time, be patient and follow my advice. I did everything she advised and worked hard at getting my credit score up. Today at Community First Credit Union I got a $21,000 loan on a new car. They also helped me eliminate two credit cards with 26% interest rates. I cannot say enough good things about the wonderful people at this Credit Union who have helped me change my life for the positive. I am enormously grateful to them. Thank you ?.

Getting ready to stop banking here soon. Just waiting for when I have the time to switch all my information to another bank and card, which is a big process for me. Initially I liked banking here. Unfortunately that ended a few months ago when the app was released. At first things were simple, and free. Eventually it turned into the institution trying to squeeze in a missed auto payment if it had but a few moments to do so. Two months in a row, two charge attempts on auto payments in the very narrow window of opportunity they had to attempt it, and both times the said they would waive the fee "this one time." They don't even pay the debt on any missed payments, for example if you have a $180 bill on autopay and you have $179.50 at any point in the pending process, pow, overcharge BUT, they don't pay the bill, they just charge you a fee, leaving you to get an additional late fee with your billing agency too. Last straw was getting denied a claim when I had been defrauded. First time I ever had a claim denied at any institution. Not only was I denied, I was denied in just a few hours. The claims rep was patronizing, dismissive, uncooperative and insisted on talking to me like I was an imbecile. It seemed like they had some 5th grade reading level speach prepared for me and were uncomfortable leaving the rehearsal material. Interjecting with what is said, while still talking, to repeatedly say "well, if it sounds too good to be true..." when that was far from the scenario I was in. They acted painfully childish, the phone call ending with her saying "I was just trying to save you money NEXT TIME, but goodbye! Call disconnected. No discussion about a charge back or other avenues of recourse. Now that I understand that they can't protect my money, I'm out. It seemed to me they were afraid to go after my money. Also, they didn't even seem to realize this took place on my birthday, js. No apathy or remorse, even feigned. They were only ever supposed to be a simple checking solution, but they missed the mark by a mile. Save yourself the headaches and just don't.
