One of my favorite cơm tấm places in OC. We got "Ghiền" Đặc Biệt with all toppings, and it was delicious! The grilled pork was juicy and seasoned well, while other toppings were also flavorful. Portion was big enough for 2 people. You'll also get free soup and drink for every order you make.

The atmosphere is nostalgic. Their decor reminds me of Saigon in early 2000s. Very Instagrammable!

seeing an ad on Facebook. I ordered the Cơm Tấm Đặc Biệt, and the portion was huge. I ended up taking the leftovers to-go and had enough for two more meals, so it was definitely worth the price. The Cơm Tấm was excellent—the meat was tender and marinated perfectly. They also served complimentary Bí Đao tea, which was a little too sweet for my taste, and gave out free bitter melon soup that day. The restaurant itself is cute, clean, and has plenty of seating. There's many parking spots right in front. While the service wasn’t super quick or attentive, I understand they were a bit busy.

We, 2 kids and 2 seniors waited for 30 minutes and after ordering, waited another 30 minutes even though the shop wasn't crowded. It really took 1 hour to wait and when we decided to go, they brought out the food. Why can you let customers wait for more than 1 hour without notice? The kids were very hungry but they didn't tell us the waiting time.

The setting is sooo cute. Their little booths mimics small shops in Vietnam. Food was surprisingly good. The marinate for the meat was really tasty. The portions are average for the prices. Their menu is very simple which entices you to get the dac biet plate. My dac biet plate was hugeee for a whopping $18.99. Comes with a little of everything you would want on your com tam. I feel like Com Thanh has about the same, maybe even more for cheaper prices. Obviously this place is newer, more trendy. Staff can be more attentive, all young people. Didn’t really check up on us once they gave us our food and had to flag them down for some knives.

If I could give this place 5 thumbs down, I would.
I saw photos of their dishes the Vietnamese people at work showed me; they didn't serve me anything remotely similar.
They literally served me the worst pork chop they could find; if I wanted this much bones, I would have gone somewhere to have ribs! The broth was lukewarm. Served with barely a tablespoon of nuoc mam. I asked for chili, and got a pinky nail size amount.
If you're looking for a very good Broken Rice with pork chop, then don't go to Ba Ghien. Go to Pho Thanh by Dalat supermarket. They are consistent with their portions and are very friendly, regardless of who you are.
The year of the snake starts next week, and I'm pretty sure it's going to bite this place. Really hard.
