They protect you while they work for you. In my case the initial $2500 fee kept me protected while they went to work for me and unfortunately I had to pay another $2500 for them to finish. It took about 6 months total and was worth every cent. Now I have a manageable monthly payment on a balance that has been slashed considerably.
