I’ve been a real estate over seven years and this has been the absolute worst experience I’ve had with the closing attorney. One week post closing and no communication and I have not been paid. The front desk person has hung up on me twice and said the attorney won’t call me because of billable hours.

We closed on our new home on Lake Logan Martin with Laura. Being new to Alabama she made us feel like we’d made great decisions on our move after retirement. She was professional, helpful with telling us about the area, she suggested restaurants and even talked about area Marinas for boat storage…Honestly, it was the easiest, smoothest and most enjoyable closing we have ever experienced!! 5 STARS!!!

My husband and I bought a home with Newcastle construction and they hired Barnes and Barnes as their closing attorney. We worked specifically with Laura and it was a horrible horrible experience. She showed up 40 minutes late to the closing and then blamed it on our lender. When she finally did arrive, she didn't apologize. She talked so fast I couldn't understand her. I asked for her to slow down and she said, "Wow, usually only old people can't understand me and you aren't old". She told my husband that he had a terrible signature and she couldn't read it. By this point I was almost in tears. It was an extremely stressful day, we were going through so much paperwork and instead of making the process comfortable for the two of us she made it stressful and painful. She was offensive, rude, and late.

Unprofessional and insensitive. Laura yelled at me like a mad woman because things didn’t go her way. My son and I already suffer from emotional trauma and her yelling and screaming made it worse. She created a very hostile environment. I will never step a foot in Barnes for any reason! I do not recommend their services for any legal matters. There are other reputable attorneys in Leeds to choose from.

I just had 2 closings with this office. I actually selected this office for my clients because of their office location that closed to the properties we sold. None of them are good experience. The closer is not an attorney , but the secretary. She was not very professional and friendly. The process was confusing, communication was poor. They would tell you they couldn’t do what you requested, but they could do the same thing they refused to do to you when someone else asked. It took days for the money to be disbursed after closing. They said they did, but it would not come to your account days later. In fact, I am still waiting for the fund to be received for a closing last week, and the wired was told to be done Friday. It’s Monday night when I am writing this review. They may be too busy. They will not have my business again.

My wife and I had a HORRIBLE experience with Barnes & Barnes. They were the closing attorney that the seller picked out for our home. They were extremely rude at closing and a couple of weeks ago we got a letter in the mail made out to “To Whom it May Concern” that they overpaid us at closing and we owe them $2,000!! My lender said he has never heard such a thing. When I called Laura Barnes to ask what happened, she said if we didn’t pay the money she would sue us! My wife works at a non-profit and we just became foster parents. We don’t know what do.
