After waiting four months for my tax refund and trying to get a hold of people that would not answer me back I did some digging on the website. I found the problem resolution office email and they got back to me shortly after and communicated with me effectively.

Called over 20 times different days and times. Auto response instructs you to hold on for next agent. Then promptly disconnects you.

This is customer DIS-SERVICE.

If you really Want to collect taxes from us, why shut us down when we make best efforts to contact you in the way you requested?$#&##+(

Give them a call if you're looking for a 13th reason. First, you will listen to 3 minutes of opening remarks. Then WE ARE EXPERIENCING HIGHER THAN NORMAL CALL VOLUME IS BUILT INTO THEIR AUTOMATED MESSAGE!! It's 7AM east coast time... your offices are closed and yet you still have a high call volume? Does a single call count as high volume for your office? Lastly, if you select "billing/ payment inquiry" it will deem your call unimportant and automatically hang up.

Absolutely useless... Can't reach anybody and yes I know that I could go online to their website but I want to talk to an actual person... They act like the website helps you and it doesn't it just makes things more confusing... Pretty comical that I pay taxes yet I can't even speak to somebody about the taxes I pay

Update to the review - within hours of posting the following review a representative, Marco, reached out. The conversation was helpful, understanding and conciliatory. I appreciate the effort and will attempt to retrieve a refund for the penalty as suggested. There are some very good and courteous listeners at AZ Department of Revenue, and that is a tremendous asset to the department. Thank you.

Quite unbelievable. Applying for a business/resale license and within days received an email notice, R03 - "unable to debit account". It was suggested I reapply. In the process of reapplication I find that I do have a license after all, and $82.00 due. Another phone call - another 20 + minutes on hold. I'm told there's a $50.00 penalty in addition to the $32.00 license fee that wasn't processed for a license I don't have, nor will have until I pay up. As I sought an explanation and a modicum of logic, the agent simply could not contain herself, huffing out one loud sigh after another. Unacceptable. I know that no one said civil servants have to be civil. It's a hard job, but this entire experience was over the top. If anyone from the department reads this, please refer to the following reference #'s: 741397 and 741582.

In Mar. of 2022 I mailed both my State and Fed income tax forms with payments. The Feds cashed my check on 30 MAR. 2022. As of May 2022, the state of AZ hadn't cashed my check yet. I spoke to Nichola at AZ Dept of revenue, on 18 MAY 22. She said state had had a lot of problems with Covid. And others had complained of this problem. She found my check and told me not to worry, On 26. AUG 22 I got letter with notice date of 14 MAY 22. Saying I had 2 days to pay amount due. AZ Dept REV. poorly run!!!
