Thanks to our consulting with Kantor and Kantor, we just received some great news regarding my wife's long term disability insurance benefits. My wife had been receiving long term disability benefits from a private insurance company when we received a letter from them stating that, since she was turning 65, she had reached the "maximum benefit period." They had even sent her a "final payment." The wording of the policy, however, led us to believe that the maximum benefit period would end at the Social Security retirement age which, for her, is 67. At the direction of Kantor and Kantor, we sent a letter contesting the insurance company's decision, and were prepared to take further legal action. But, to our delight, our insurance company agreed with us, and have adjusted the maximum benefit period for an additional two years. For us, this is an enormous victory.
