This was the worst experience I’ve ever had. It was my first time ever needing a lawyer, my job service recommended Kate. My first phone call with Kate was great. She seemed very knowledgeable and gave me many examples of what we could do for my case, I signed up with her and paid my retainer fee. Everything went down hill from there. I had to deal with Two paralegals which both were fired. The first one was great I have no clue why she was let go. The second one was my worst nightmare she told me nothing but lies. Had me thinking my case was being taken care of only to find out she never told Kate about any of the phone conversations we had. She lied about taking care of a parenting plan for my son. Once she was removed from the law firm, Kate’s firm then moved under a larger firm out of Colorado. Here is where it got very messy their Financial department called me every day saying I owed money. I was completely confused cause I still had my full retainer fee, as nothing had taken place with my case. After this her very unorganized secretary sends me all these charges from 8 months ago stating the retainer fee was depleted, which in the contract It states I am given a 30 Days heads up (I believe) when I need to add money and when charges are taken out (I never had any notice) and I never knew I was Being charged for certain inquiries. Long story short I am still being billed years later with no custody order, no child support nothing to show for the almost $3,500 that’s I’ve already paid. In addition to everything Kate told me on the first call she was now saying couldn’t Happen . I haven’t spoken to anyone in over a year and still receive bills that have no explanation on them. I do not recommend or maybe my case just wasn’t important enough to give quality service too.

If my daughter did not have a lawyer of the caliber of Kate Smith Law & her entire Team working smart and hard, even though everything was pre-agreed, signed with the other party, the judge approved the divorce to take place within the Injunction agreement, Satan and Evil in 2 persons (the divorcee with his lawyer)together, they are constantly looking for ways to harass, intimidate us, sending Sheriff and Constable to disrespecting the judge from another county decisions. So if not them, amount of work and funds spend, by now we would be on the street and without a roof over our heads.
Thanks for everything Kate you're doing for us! I know my sweet and godly daughter and I, we are protected and in good hands and have fair process.

Willfully negligent representation from owner/attorney Kate Smith. Kate Smith routinely missed imperative court appearances and deadlines, even after being reminded on numerous occasions, and was either habitually late or had to reschedule all client-attorney meetings. The Law Offices of Kate Smith PLLC would then proceed to bill or even double bill for their perpetual mistakes including, but not limited to: continuous requests to change the dates of marriage and divorce as they were never corrected on legal documents even after multiple requests, inquiries to firm regarding missed deadlines, inquiries to firm regarding missed/late/rescheduled meetings, inquiries to firm regarding accountability, inquiries regarding Kate Smith’s detrimental communication tactics, inquiries regarding inability to adhere and obey Texas Family Court Laws and Dallas County Family Court Standing Orders, and when questions arose about accountability, due to predatory and questionable nature of representation by Kate Smith, the attorney and the firm. The Law Office of Kate Smith PLLC has refused to return and provide the entirety of files after requests were made (even though the firm's paralegal acknowledged the email request and replied that all documents would be sent, which they never were). Kate Smith was extremely disheveled, unorganized, and lacked adequate/minimum representation skills. Lastly, I became aware of being officially divorced by visiting the court's website and by contacting the court. NOT ONCE did Kate Smith call to tell me that I was divorced. Kate Smith and firm negatively represent the legal profession in Texas, while exploitatively billing clients due to Kate Smith’s and her firm’s own negligence. The aforesaid, including all pertinent documentation, begets the question, was the attorney negligent in representation or did Kate Smith strategically use representation as a means to financial gain, at the expense of those represented (I.E., Shortly after intake Kate Smith, opened her own firm, and then shortly after the divorce was finalized, Kate Smith relocated her new firm to an alternative new building. The nature of how the Final Divorce Decree became perpetually delayed by counsel, while expeditiously depleting the retainer including aforementioned, makes one question the legality, authenticity, and validity of representation.

DO NOT HIRE! Kate Smith and firm display narcissistic tendencies with predatory billing practices. Kate Smith was exceptional on intake ONLY. After intake, the representation nosedived and was below the minimum standard required by The State Bar of Texas. Being represented by The Law Office of Kate Smith PLLC is like being represented by your ex-spouse that you are attempting to divorce.

Actions Speak Loader than Words. As do documents. Legal avenues will be sought, as will grievances with respective agencies.

I have recently started services with Kate Smith, PLLC and was very refreshed with the plethora of Ideas and concerns that Kate brought to the table ( I know that is her expertise ). However, on an initial prepaid office visit she exceeded the allotted time by almost an hour to make sure I understood what things I needed to do and would encounter with the plaintiff's representation.

I enjoyed our meeting and we shared many interesting stories that related to the divorcee experience. Family matter are at the top of my priority list and she had specific recommendations that well help our family heal.

Just starting the tumultuous journey and already feel that a smoother path has been provided. Hope to provide updates soon.
