I have been on the board of my condominium association for two and a half years, and the first surprise was receiving the very useful and comprehensive booklets sent by Kaman & Cusimano for new board members. Then I received the first schedule for the upcoming seminar--another bonus for serving. I have found them beneficial for understanding the role of the board member, and clarifying many technical and legal matters. The attorneys who give the seminars and those answering all those questions really know their business. It is also enlightening to find out that many of the same problems exist in every type of home owner association.

Unprofessional. The lady who returned my call was useless, and they held my property for ransom and filed a lien against it after purchasing the home 4 months ago, while I wasn't sure where to send HOA payments. HOA past due payments were $193, and their legal fees were $570 after their payment fee. Their fees were nearly 3x the fees I owed to the HOA, which again, were only 4 months late after just buying the home. No communication of the lien prior to it being filed. Unprofessional.

Kaman & Cusimano offer a comprehensive education for volunteer board members serving their Home Owner and Condo Owner Associations. Coming on as a board member three years ago I had many questions and Kaman & Cusimano have the answers. They are a one stop shopping center for our Association. They educate by brochure, webinars, and seminars with outline booklets of the lecture to take home and reference. They keep teaching at a pace that is doable with details that show their experience and research. Phone calls are welcome to bounce questions and concerns. They show how to make a comprehensive plan for today and the future. It has given us confidence and peace of mind.

Our Association has used K&C for years. They put on excellent seminars a couple of times a year as part of their service to clients. These seminars are a great opportunity to network and get questions answered, and to hear what other associations are going through...good and bad. Also a good way to learn best practices and keep up with current changes in condo law. I mostly deal with two or three of the firm's attorneys and get an excellent response. They know how to quickly get to the key issues of a situation and explain them in concise layman's terms.

This seminar, like the other K&C seminars I've attended, did more than cover the subject (in this case, insurance). It explained what coverage condo associations need and what to do and not do in order to maintain your coverage and assure that your activities/events/losses are covered. Don't let a misstep leave you exposed — attend the seminar and learn how your board members' behavior can affect your coverage.

A K&C seminar has never wasted my time. The information comes at you so thick and fast that it's like drinking from a firehose, and the seminar booklet is an excellent medium for taking notes.

I have been on our Board for 12 + years, all as Treasurer. I have been to most of the seminars over the years, and I always pick up something I needed to know to be an effective Board member. The presenters are always completely prepared, answer questions easily, and never run over the allotted time. I find that I use the information to be able to educate owners when necessary. Attending these seminars make more competent Boards , helping us all to avoid major mistakes in running an association. (And the food is good)

I am president of our association. I have attended all of K&C's free education seminars since our association engaged them. I attended the November 2 one because I wanted to hear what they thought about insurance coverage. All I know about ours came from the broker for Cincinnati Insurance. I took a copy of our insurance policy with me and even stayed for the question session. My main takeaways were that our liability levels should perhaps be raised, we should probably have D&O Insurance rather than Wrongful Acts coverage and that the liability associated with our retention pond is greater than I thought. We may ask them to do an insurance review. I was very satisfied with what I learned and appreciate K&C offering these seminars.
